Buying used cars at the Alameda St in el Paso Texas

If you live in the El Paso Area and you are looking for a used car chances are that you are going to end at La Alameda street. Here you will find hundreds of car dealers with a lot of options in terms of budget and styles. But you will also  find a lot of dealers that can work a huge scam on You. Be careful, some of this establishments make money buying ripped or crash cars, then they fixed them and sell them. Don't get me wrong, this business transaction is OK, if the buyer knows about the previous conditions of the car he is buying, and that's were the problem is on La Alameda Street car dealers, several of them will not disclose to their costumers the whole truth about their cars.
Be careful, if you want to buy a car from one of this dealers make sure to inspect the car before you buy it and at least get a car fax report. Remember that buying a used car is like flipping a coin, you can get what you want or a total disaster!!!

FRAUD ALERT


We are seeing increasing numbers of used car fraud ads online where the "seller" emails you to use "Yahoo Payment Agents", "eBay Payment" agents, or "Google Checkout" or "US Amy Protection Services". None of these entities performs escrow or payment services for used cars. It's all fraud using logos and brands you trust in order to fool you. Use your head, they are only listing services. Any seller offering to pay shipping on a car is 100% certain to be fraud. It can cost $1000 to ship a car across country. What seller would really pay that for you? Watch out for sellers claiming to be in military and out of the country in Iraq, a very common scam.

Buying used cars from car rental agencies




A rental car is just like any used car, but Most have scratches and scrapes, as every rental I ever drove had. But their engines are probably maintained better than privately owned cars, as they are kept in constant care and maintenance during use. When you rent a car from the top companies, they are clean, and I have never had a rental car break down. The companies tend to take them out of service by one to two years of age, so you are getting a decent car which the rental company has already absorbed the largest portion of the depreciation. Rental car companies tend to use no haggle pricing, and you'll often find that pricing to be higher than it should be.

Avoid Scams

When buying a used car, it is vital to avoid the countless scams and unscrupulous deals that look too good to be real. For instance, some of the common used car scams include rolling back the odometer to make the mileage appear less than the actual reading and a person selling a car that he doesn't own. When buying a used car, it is helpful to have a used car checklist.

Obtain Documents

  • Before signing any documents or handing over money, one thing to check off your list is obtaining all the necessary documents concerning the used car. For instance, obtain the vehicle identification number (VIN). The buyer can check the VIN number at the state motor vehicle department, or companies such as CarFax will provide the used car's history. This history will include prior owners, any other states where the car was registered with the motor vehicle department and the mileage listed at the time it was sold. Copies of the title are also good things to get; the title will list whether the car has been salvaged.

Inspect the Car

  • Look at the car to make sure that there are not oddities that show that the seller is trying to hide damage. The car should have paint that matches, tires that show even wear and no signs of rust. Also inspect the car's belts, hoses and radiator to make sure that everything is fine.

Hire a Certified Mechanic

  • An inspection is vital to buying a used car from an automobile dealer or seller. An inspection will reveal any problem with the car. Anyone buying a used car should hire a trusted certified mechanic. Once the used car is chosen, it's important to have the certified mechanic to check out the vehicle to make sure that it is working properly. If a certified mechanic can't be obtained have the car inspected at a diagnostic center.

Checklist Considerations

  • A used car buyer trading in a car and buying a new used car should add something else to the checklist: the price of the new used car should always be negotiated before discussing the trade-in value of the buyer's car. The last thing a buyer wants to for the trade in value of an old car to be pre-negotiated because it may increase the asking price of the "new" used car.

GET AN EXTENDED WARRANTY

It may be impossible to get a warranty for an older high mileage used car. In this case, it's even more important to have a mechanic check out that used car first. You don't want to inherit any surprise problems.
If you buy from a private seller, it's "As Is", you have no choice, so get an extended warranty. Have a good mechanic perform an inspection of the car. Why should you spend money on a mechanic? I'd rather spend a few dollars on a mechanic now, than $3000 on repairs later when the axle falls off. The mechanic is a great investment if it alerts you to a costly engine repair that even the seller was unaware of.
When buying a used car that is out of the manufactures warranty, you are at risk for costly repairs. Thats why we recommend buying an extended warranty

GET A USED CAR LOAN

There are 2 basic types of used car loans. The first is when purchasing from a dealer. The second is when buying from a private party. Most banks will NOT lend money on a car that is more than 4 or 5 years old. Banks charge at least 2% higher APR on used car loans than they do for new car loans. Online lenders are much cheaper. Their used car loan rates are closer to new car loan rates. Make sure your credit score is at least 680, then as a prime borrower, and you can choose the lowest APR. If your credit is bad and if you're in too deep, maybe now is not the time to buy a car.
